Having read this author’s debut novel last year, I was eager to read this memoir immediately it was released. Although I bought my own copy, the author was gracious enough to send me a copy as well. Thank you, Ayo.
In this memoir, Ayo Deforge pours her heart and soul out as we journey with her through her life experiences as she navigates grief, loss, and yet still receives the unwavering mercy and comfort only God can provide through it all. From the title, I expected to read about loss and grief in one or several ways but what I was not expecting was how relatable her experiences would be to me as I have faced some of the challenges she faced.
Ultimately, this memoir is a testament of God’s love and mercy on us his children which Ayo is a living witness. Her story teaches us that God is still with us when we go through the fire and through the waters and we will not be burned or drowned as long as we continue to put our trust in him. Most importantly, God uses these types of experiences to draw us closer to him because in the end, it is all about God and our relationship with him which in turn will save our souls and the souls of others we minister to.
Thank you, Ayo, once again for the courage to write this memoir and my prayer is that it would be a source of encouragement and comfort to whomsoever God leads to read it.
