I hope that you enjoy reading and listening to my thoughts, feelings and rants and in many ways relate to some of them.
Enjoy!

Dear Samaritan,

Dear Samaritan,
Tell me,
what did you see?
A stranger in the dust?
Or a soul,
just like you?

Dear Samaritan,
Tell me,
what did you hear?
Was it the hush beneath the noise?
The whisper,
the echo in your soul?
“Do unto others.”
Did it stir your spirit quietly,
but surely?

Dear Samaritan,
Tell me,
why did you stop?
Did your heart falter at the sight of broken flesh?
Did compassion overtake reason?
Did your soul ache
like a wound reopened?
Like love that demands a cost?

Did it bleed to help?
Did it hurt
to be the one who stayed?

Dear Samaritan,
How did you know?
That love wears no label.
That kindness isn’t confined.
That the divine
doesn’t walk past the suffering.

Dear Samaritan,
Do you know?

It was me.

Shipwrecked by circumstance.
Left on the roadside to die.
Bruised and broken,
Shamed and forgotten.
Bloodied by life
and cast aside.

And you,
you didn’t hesitate.
Stepped in.
Bound my wounds.
Paid my debt.
You saw beyond who I was
to who I could be.

“Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.”

So today I stand,

Alive and strong.

To say these words to you.

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May His face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May He lift up His countenance upon you
and give you peace.

Now,
I will go.
And do likewise.
