This month the spotlight is on Ayo Deforge, a French-Nigeran writer and author. I discovered Ayo when I read her debut novel Tearless and since then have enjoyed reading her other published works.
Here are a few things about Ayo I’d like to share with you…..

Ayo Deforge is a Nigerian writer who resides in the South of France. She was born in Lagos in 1982 where she started writing at the age of thirteen, expressing grief through poetry. She studied French Language at the Lagos State University and is the President of the ‘French Speaking Nigerians’ Association. In 2007, she progressed in writing her debut novel, TEARLESS when she attended Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s and Binyavanga Wainaina’s Creative Writing Workshop in Lagos. TEARLESS was published on December 1st, 2023, and was shortlisted for Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA 2024) Fiction Prize. In 2022, she participated in Faber Academy Writing Online Course to improve her unpublished novel CAPTIVE.

Books by Ayo Deforge

What I love about this author is her diverse creative style and authenticity as she effortlessly writes across genres in both prose and poetry. She is also one of the few authors I feel a personal connection not only to her work but to how I perceive her character to be. I strongly believe she is an author that has a lot of stories to tell, and I look forward to reading more books by her in the future.
So if you haven’t yet read anything by Ayo Deforge, let this be your que to go grab one of her books and get started. All her books are available on amazon.com.
Happy reading.
