Dreamer
This is what dreams
are made of.
Small dreams,
big dreams,
real dreams,
lofty dreams.
You dream dreams
stretching across oceans,
beyond imagination.
Visions of light,
your name in lights.
Spitting verses and rhymes.
Mouth on mic.
Pen on paper.
You dream dreams,
gardens, flowers, butterflies.
Tea, coffee, cafes.
Books, loads of them.
Reading, writing,
white beaches in the sun.
You dream dreams.
family, friends, food,
communion,
laughter,
quiet.
Now,
you stand in it.
In your dream.
In reality,
It is your dream
yet it is not.
Bitter, sweet, sour,
all at once.
Peace and chaos,
hand in hand
intertwined.
Blowing hot and cold.
You are here
but you are not.
Sometimes you look back,
you think
somebody wake me up,
take me back.
Back to before I lay me
down to dream.
And then, you ask yourself,
can I dream another dream
in this dream?
But this is what dreams are made of.
The courage to dream again.
To forgive yourself of things
you didn’t know.
To make a detour in your detour.
To dream a new dream
in this reality which is your dream
but not quite.
And this is what dreams are made of.
Hazy, fast paced, slow motion.
Yet somehow you believe
it can be
reshaped,
remolded,
rebuilt,
redreamed.
So, you do not wake up.
You do not go back but forward.
You fine-tune and polish.
You reinvent the invention
of this self that only wants better.
Knowing better may mean
tougher,
harder.
Less but more.
You remember,
you are here
because you dared to dream.
And even if reality bites
a little bit,
It is your dream.
For this is what dreams are made of.
The ability to dream again and again.
So, this what I say to you,
dear dreamer,
Dream on.
