Word Play Wednesday: Come Back.…A Poem

Welcome to Word Play Wednesday!
Word Play Wednesday is a weekly feature of written and spoken word poetry. I will be sharing my written and spoken word poems exclusive to my wonderful subscribers. If you are interested in sharing some of your poetry, feel free to buzz me and we can work something out.

I hope that you enjoy reading and listening to my thoughts, feelings and rants and in many ways relate to some of them.
Enjoy!

Come Back

Come back.

Not polished.

Not rehearsed.

With the dust still

in your shoes,

and the questions

still in your chest.

Come back
from the noise,
the deadlines,
the quiet ache of

doing too much
for too long.

From the guilt of

shorter prayers

to no prayers.

Come back

For God has not

been measuring
the morning devotions

you missed
or how distracted

your worship felt.

He is not keeping score.

He is simply here.

Waiting in the same

gentle place
He always was.

Come back.

For there is no shame

in returning.

Instead, it is a

soft re-centering.

A turning of your face
towards presence.

Towards your Father

who waits with open arms.
No catching up

is required here.

Just come back.

And let stillness

be your new home.
